About Gail
Gail Bryson is a textile, graphic and product designer. She specialises in simple and graphic prints that complement a wide range of home styles.
Trained at Edinburgh College of Art, she developed her design skills at The Conran Shop and The Nest before subsequently becoming co-founder and creative director of Bryson Loxley. Amongst her clients there are John Lewis and Jamie Oliver. She has also collaborated individually with other small independent businesses on a wide range of projects over the years.
Gail is a firm believer that good design will always last the test of time. Her products are designed to last both in design and manufacture, and are mainly all hand-printed and hand-sewn in London. Ultimately, her aim is to create things that can passed down through the generations, like the collection of linen she has inherited from her own family.
Colour also plays a big part in Gail’s work. Combinations are dreamed up from photographs taken on her travels and provide inspiration back in her studio.

10:20am: Introduction
1pm: Break for lunch
2pm: Continue workshop
4pm: Finish

This workshop is not suitable for children.
About the workshop, as told by Gaz:
Are you harbouring a desire to be able to sharpen your own knives? Does it feel within your reach but still somehow completely unfathomable?
As a professional knife sharpening service we speak with our customers about this topic a lot, so much so we've lost count of how many times we've heard...
"I'd really like to be able to sharpen my own knives but I'm worried about ruining them."
"I've had a whetstone for years but I've never got around to learning how to use it."
"I'm not really sure about the angles."
These are absolutely valid reasons for being wary of getting started, properly sharpening a knife using traditional methods can be tricky, but by breaking down the process and giving you a little guidance along the way, we're confident you'll leave the workshop with the skills you need become a competent and confident home sharpener.
We’ll start the workshop with a lesson in the all important sharpening theory, then we’ll give a comprehensive demonstration of the techniques you’ll need to know before moving on to a big chunk of time for you to sharpen your own knives under our guidance.
The bulk of the workshop will be focussed on standard kitchen knives, so we recommend that you bring around 4 of your own to work on, we’ll also save some time at the end of the session to talk you through how to sharpen serrated knives and scissors, so feel free to bring these along as well, in addition to any sharpening equipment you might already own and want to ask questions about, although don’t worry if you don’t own any as everything will be provided on the day (except the knives!).
